Winter daphne daphne odora when we gardeners talk about daphne we are referring to daphne odora marginata there are eighteen different species of daphne and at least seven different varieties of daphne odora. Winter daphne scientifically known as daphne odora and summer daphne daphne transatlantica are superstar flowering shrubs the fragrant flowers of both fill the garden with intoxicating perfume. The shiny dark green leaves are edged with distinctive creamy yellow margins.

In spring its highly scented flowers open a deep shade of pink before fading to white. Daphne daphne odora charms gardeners with its leathery dark green leaves and intensely fragrant flower clusters which appear in winter when most other shrubs lay dormant. This excellent evergreen daphne has the additional attraction of having beautiful variegated foliage as well as scented flowers.

Fragrant flowers bloom in winter and early spring. This variety has the most powerful fragrance. Daphne odora aureo marginata beautiful rosy pink flower buds that open to white sweetly fragrant flowers in winter and early spring.

They have a mounding form and thick leathery sword shaped. Very easy to grow daphne are wonderful evergreen bushes to add sensory appeal around shady patio gardens decks porches and other outdoor living spaces. The flowers bloom in late winter and aureo marginata is a popular winter daphne shrub.

This winter daphne has yellow margined leaves and rosy pink flower buds that open to white. Reaching 4 feet tall and wide marginata is beautiful against a wall or near a patio or deck where its fragrance can be appreciated. It grows to about four feet tall with narrow glossy leaves.
